Mineral gesture
Cécile Geiger’s practice is grounded in a direct engagement with material, approached not as a support but as a field of constraints. Her work develops without formal preconception, through a process in which each intervention — cutting, assembling, forcing — operates as a position. Form is never given; it emerges through an ongoing negotiation between resistance and transformation. Within this framework, the studio becomes a space of negotiation rather than production. The resulting works do not aim to stabilize an image, but to sustain a state of internal tension, embedded in their very structure.
Painting functions as an extension of this inquiry, not as a separate medium but as a displacement. It allows for operations at a different scale, engaging a more immediate relationship to time, where questions of gesture and its persistence are reconfigured.
Her works unfold across varied contexts, from gallery spaces to constructed environments, without hierarchy. They engage space not through occupation or function, but through a tensioning of perceptual conditions.
Cécile Geiger lives and works in France.

Creative approach
Cécile Geiger shapes steel through bending, cutting, and welding, in a process where the hand remains central. She then transforms the surfaces through polishing, rust, blue heat treatments, and black hematite patina, revealing light and depth. Each piece emerges from a dialogue between constraint and freedom, giving rise to abstract forms that are both harmonious, complex, and alive, where the material retains its full expressive strength.
