The elegance of strength
Cécile Geiger develops a practice in which sculpture and painting emerge from the same inquiry : revealing the internal tensions of matter. Metal, approached through a direct and physical process, becomes a field of forces where constraint, balance, and release are continuously negotiated.
The resulting forms — both organic and structural — exist in a state of controlled instability, oscillating between density and openness. In parallel, her paintings extend this investigation through another medium.
Through gesture, layering, and material presence, they explore similar dynamics: emergence, erasure, and the circulation of energy across the surface.
Whether working in volume or on plane, her practice is driven by a shared tension: bringing forth a presence from matter without fixing it into a definitive form.
Her works, conceived as unique pieces, operate at the threshold between sculpture and object, while maintaining a fundamentally plastic approach.
